Props Animations

With over 200 Five Star ratings, it is clear that Unity Asset: Props animations is your solution for retargetable animations.

Reviews from the store:

Over the period of about a year, Props animations has grown to over 700 custom animations. There are Medieval, Soldier, Wizard and fighting animations plus more. Check out the animations below. There are also a few other animations that aren’t in the example scene (wall grabs and climb up etc). All animations are stored in fbx files, so that if you wanted to, you can make adjustments to make each animation unique to your game.

All animations that get added are purely from requests. Check out the current animations queue here. Once i have completed the animations i place them on the preview page for your approval, and once its approved i add it to the pack! Its that simple.

(if it doesn’t do the animation straight away just keep clicking the button as it has to finish the previous animation first).

Under Maintenance

This Asset includes the above scene, so that you can see how the animations blend together. It also includes the below controller example to assist with getting a controller started in mecanim. I will add features to this as the asset gets bigger.

Move = WASD, Look = Mouse, Run = Shift, Jump = Space (only when running forward.) , 1 = no weapon,  2 = pistol.

Under Maintenance

Click the image below to see the mammoth animator controller for the demo scene. (as of version 1.14)

There is also an IK Script to assist with getting hand placement correct after re-targeting.

IK copy

And best of all, if the animation you need isn’t in the package, Contact Us or put a comment below with the details of what you need for your project and I will add it to the asset.

So what are you waiting for go get it!!

If you have other inquiries check out the FAQ.

    Hey guys,

This stuff looks great! Good work! I’m wondering, are these Generic or Humanoid animations for Mecanim?

    Keep up the good work!

    • Proportion | September 12, 2013 at 3:34 am #

These are humanoid animations, so you can transfer the animations to any character you have that is rigged for humanoid animations. As is done in the example scene. Thanks :D

      • Octopixell | September 12, 2013 at 6:47 pm #

Awesome! Thanks for your quick reply. Really, keep up the good work these look amazing!

  2. Stephan | September 12, 2013 at 5:46 pm #

Do you have a list/preview of all of the animations available? What about ones that are planned for the future?

    • Proportion | September 13, 2013 at 1:31 am #

Hey Stephan, I dont have a list, but if you click on the image of the Animator window above, it will show you a full screen view of it. This image has the names of all the current animations. Also all the current animations are viewable inside the demo up there. I can also send you a video of me clicking through all the animations in the demo scene if your having difficulties getting through the menus.

The only planned animations i have are via requests from anyone that has purchased the asset. 1 member asked yesterday for:
      – Western (Cowboy) pistol animations. Drawing a gun and one handed pistol grip (instead of the current tactical grip in the pack).
      – Archer (bow and arrow) animations
      – More mobility animations to go along with these and the current ones in the pack, like dodging left/right, Dive and Roll, various jumps.

So these are what i will be currently working on for the next update. I am your personal animator, and anything you ask for just gets added to the pack, this way everyone wins :) not bad ey?

    Hey Proportion,

Did you get my contact form submission? Having some serious issues getting these animations set up with my models etc so I could really use some help :P Thanks!

    • Proportion | September 16, 2013 at 5:54 am #

Hey yea i did, im guessing the reply went to your spam folder. Long story short i will help you via skype as that is the best way i can help you. my skype nick name is “proportion” the pic should look the same as the one next to my name here

      • Octopixell | September 16, 2013 at 6:54 am #

Ah I’ve checked my mail for your reply but it doesn’t show up anywhere, also not the spam folder. Good thing I doublechecked here then hehe ;) I’ve added you on Skype.

  4. OneShotGG | October 8, 2013 at 2:41 pm #

Quick question, are these “root motion” or “in place” animations?

    • Proportion | October 8, 2013 at 9:12 pm #

They are in place, but if you want any of the animations changed to root motion i can do that easily. 1 user asked earlier if the push/pulls could be made into root motions, so they now have both.

Hi, I’m looking for motorcycle rider animations. Can you add them to this asset ?The animations I’m looking for are: left turn lean, right turn lean, look behind, wheely or catwalk, shoot forward, shoot backward, shoot left, shoot right, swing weapon left, swing weapon right, swing weapon forward, swing weapon backward, stand on bike stunt, forward summersault off bike, summersault inair stunt flip and inair stunts. If you can’t add them to this asset then how much would you charge for some or all of these animations ? Thanks

    • Proportion | October 13, 2013 at 9:13 pm #

maybe, the turns may possibly be a problem. if you can send me an fbx of a motorbike you are trying to place characters onto, i will see what i can do. my email address is, or if you cant email the motorbike, i can be contacted via skype with the nickname proportion.

Hey I just put a bit more thought into this, and the only way it would work for your motorbike is if the bike was already animated (eg the bikes fbx files already contained animations making it lean left and right). So when mecanim retargets all the bones for your character, it may not be sitting on the bike as correctly as you want it. Unity only allows IK weights to be applied to the hands and feet. So motorbike animations will probably be beyond what i am able to do with a mecanim humanoid character. I am willing to setup a turn animation into a free example asset so you can see what i mean by all this. I also do custom animations for people if you want that, just contact me via email for further discussion.

Heh, i put some more thought into this, if you parent the character to the bike, the sitting position should stay where the bike seat is, so i think i can do this. But as i said i will need the bikes file for testing.

      • Mark | October 14, 2013 at 2:42 am #

Yeah, when I put my character onto my motorcycle model it is only a child of the bike and it stays inplace and moves along sitting on the bike. But I’m no good at making animations so it is just a stuck sitting pose for now. If you can add these animations, it would be so awesome ! I sent you the 3d model of the bike to your email just now. OH btw, my bike does leans by using code only so it does not need bike animations for leaning left and right. I’m just looking for the rider animations (body moving/shifting and leaning into the curves, moving arms and knees,etc..)Thanks !

        • Proportion | October 14, 2013 at 3:02 am #

No worries Mark, I will let you know via email.

  6. Ewan | October 22, 2013 at 7:29 am #

This asset is excellent, thank you for doing this! Exactly what I was looking for.

Is it possible to add a couple working animations? Such as shoveling, using a pickaxe, hammer and chopping down tree.

    Keep up the great work!

    • Proportion | October 22, 2013 at 7:59 am #

Yea easy done, if you use the contact form and provide references like youtube vids of something that looks like what you want, i will get it done asap and put it in the next update. eg, im not to sure if the hammer animation is hammering a nail, with a sledge hammer, on a wall, or ground etc.

      • Ewan | October 22, 2013 at 8:24 am #

I’ll get right onto it, thank you :)

  7. Thomas | October 27, 2013 at 11:06 pm #

Could you add crawl animation(s)? This would be useful for many different kinds of games.

    • Proportion | October 27, 2013 at 11:40 pm #

Sure thing Thomas. If you could contact me at and provide a reference video with what you want the crawl to look like that would be great. eg, i need to know if its a hands and knees crawl, or a prone leopard crawl, whether it looks a creepy or a happy looking crawl. A reference video speaks a thousand words.

  8. Mark | November 6, 2013 at 7:28 pm #

AWESOME ! v1.08 is now on the assetstore. I just updated it and tried it. All those motorcycle animations are there ! Thanks again !

    • Proportion | November 6, 2013 at 10:34 pm #

No worries Mark, Hey what do you guys think of the screenshots on this update? too cheezy? would there be something u’d do differently?

  9. Mark | November 10, 2013 at 4:09 pm #

??… I just tried your unity player ontop of this page using chrome and internet explorer and it fails to work with an error. Anyone else get the same ? All other websites working fine here. Thanks again for the awesome animations !

    • Mark | November 10, 2013 at 4:11 pm #

says ” error…failed to download data ” each time

      • Proportion | November 10, 2013 at 7:00 pm #

Thanks for the heads up!!, I am having a few technical issues. I will try to get it sorted ASAP. In the mean time i have placed the 1.07 version up for demo purposes.

      • Proportion | November 10, 2013 at 10:39 pm #

Hey i think i got it. Let me know if you have troubles.

  10. Karnpot | January 24, 2014 at 6:20 pm #

Hello, your work looks really great! I’m deciding if I will buy 1 or 2 packages lol

May I ask if you’re using motion capture or something else?

    • Proportion | January 24, 2014 at 8:14 pm #

Hi karnpot all the animations are done by hand in blender.

      • Karnpot | January 25, 2014 at 9:29 am #

        Bought it already!

Any news on the 2Hands? I desperately need it!

        • Proportion | January 25, 2014 at 11:14 am #

kk, this week I will add a bunch of requested samurai sword anims. I guess its best if other’s get to see the two handed sword stuff for themselves

  11. Simon | February 27, 2014 at 7:55 pm #

    Hi Karnpot,
    This is great pack !
Ok, does your pack has these animations ?
    ( )

    ( )

I was browsing your pack but couldn’t find much on these type of animations in your pack.
    – the most I see are very generic weapon fire, shotgun fire & pistol fire , but doesn’t suit well.

    • Proportion | February 27, 2014 at 10:43 pm #

Hi Simon, Karnpot is a customer. I (Prop) make all the animations. This asset pack (in regards to weapon animations) has all the animations that are in the demo under “weapon animations” and “pistol ready”. So far thats all thats in there because that is all that has been requested. Each of the videos you linked shows over 50 animations, so some of the actions are there while others aren’t. If you have difficulties getting your game to work due to not having specific animations, you can request new ones. And provided you use the animations you request, you can keep on requesting! There is no limit.

If what your regarding is running and shooting at the same time. most people mask two animations together to achieve that effect, so that all thats really needed to blend from one anim to the next is the arms rather than the entire body. The controller example on this page does a basic example of this, and there is also a layer mask example included in the pack.

  12. Manny | March 31, 2014 at 4:35 am #

Hello there prop i purchased the pack of animations and i was amazed at the quality of your work. Good job! however i don’t know if it may be a fluke but the animations for idle monster do not load. Are there any on the package? if not, will there ever be? Also before i make any request; Are you still taking request?

    • Proportion | March 31, 2014 at 7:47 am #

Hi Manny, the idle monster animation is in the idle.fbx file. It seems to be playing fine on my end. If your talking about if there are any other monster related animations, currently there isn’t any other monster animations because nobody has requested any. If you would like to make some requests please contact me via the contact form following the instructions on it, and i will be happy to help :D

  13. rams | April 16, 2014 at 5:33 am #

Hi will you be able to add cricket game animations.

    • Proportion | April 16, 2014 at 8:19 am #

Hi Rams, I can totally do the cricket animations. but i need video references before i can do your animations. that way i know what you need for your game. take a look at the top of the contact us form for more details. Thanks!

      • rams | April 17, 2014 at 7:43 am #

thanks for the quick reply, will mail you with details soon.

  14. Vilminus | April 23, 2014 at 4:24 pm #

Awesome animations! And you are working faster than I can implement them into my games :D The upcoming 2handed weapon animations are looking great!
Could you pls do some aiming position/animation for the bow? Since there is no IK in unity free this is the only way to aim. Up, down, right and left are the most important ones, but if you have time for that backward archery would be awesome too. :)
Do you need reference for this?

    • Proportion | April 23, 2014 at 10:13 pm #

Ya i can do that for sure. But the catch with that if you are going to do it that way is you will need the shooting from each direction too, to complement each aim direction, much like the walks to runs in the 2d controller example. I should be able to work on these if i can get at least an image of the up,down, left, right and backward poses. I can’t figure out how you would aim a bow to your right without moving your feet, let alone backward heh. Videos are best but i can work with images on this. Also a heads up the customer that requested the 2 handed weapon animations asked to pay for exclusivity, so if that comes through they wont be added to the pack. But if you need animations like that for your pack i can change them up to do the same thing, but look quite different. Trying to keep everyone happy :D

ps. also to note if you dont have pro is that there is an asset called final IK that does all that funky IK stuff. Here is a vid from the guys youtube channel more specific to what you want:

      • Vilminus | April 24, 2014 at 10:14 am #

We made a quick video about bow aiming. I hope it suits your needs as a reference.

On the other hand, I found a nice animation for the Two Handed Fightning. It’s a combo, but could you do the 3 attacks separately?

        • Proportion | April 24, 2014 at 11:32 am #

Hi Vilminus, That video is more than good enough :D If you check the medievil.fbx file, you will see there is bowInstant and bowInstant2. They have different stances. If you could let me know which stance you want your aiming poses done, i will make it happen. With the combo attack, were you planning on them to combo in your game or have them as 3 separate individual attacks that don’t link?

          • Vilminus | April 24, 2014 at 3:40 pm #

            I’m using the bowinstant stance.
No combo, I wan’t to use them for invidiudal attacks.

          • Proportion | April 28, 2014 at 3:51 am #

Hey the bow stances are ready for preview on the preview page. let me know if your happy with them so i can add them to the asset.

          • Vilminus | April 29, 2014 at 9:22 am #

Awesome! Can’t wait to implement them into my game! :D
            Thank you!

          • Proportion | April 30, 2014 at 5:36 am #

I will be trying to make a build for the asset soon, I’ve just had a heap of requests lately!! Also your sword requests are up for preview too, let me know if your happy with them

          • Vilminus | May 1, 2014 at 2:05 pm #

Perfect! The swings are as dynamic as I wanted. :)

          • Proportion | May 1, 2014 at 10:25 pm #

awesome! I just sent the latest build last night so you will get them as soon as unity approves it.

          • Proportion | May 6, 2014 at 12:36 am #

Hi Vilminus, your archer anims are in the latest update now. so get your update on :D

  15. Molt | May 1, 2014 at 9:28 am #

Excellent asset pack, purchased it yesterday and am delighted by the range and quality!

I do have a few requests though..

    * ‘Walking on the spot’- This could be one of the standard Walk animations without the arm movement, I’m planning on using this when a character turns on the spot without moving forward/backward. It’s possible that there’s already something in the pack that I’m missing here though.

    * Fear reactions. I’m planning on having bystanders react badly when guns are drawn, either running in fear (Any of , ,, or cowering ( , Not ideal reference material, can supply photos if needed.

    • Proportion | May 1, 2014 at 10:37 am #

      Hi Molt,

Im not sure what you mean by walking on the spot. I will need a video reference to better understand what you want there. If its idle turns your looking for i think the raw mocap data that unity supplies may have that:
also, I use the video references to copy the actions performed, so i will need some video references for the runs. I can use the first cowering image for a reference (i will add that shortly) but the second one may not apply to they game your making unless your making a person fear a 10m tall character, as the person in the image is looking up and leaning back. Think of the references you get as exactly what you want them to look like in your game. The better the reference you can get the better idea i will have of what you need.

    • Proportion | May 12, 2014 at 12:25 am #

      Hi Molt,

your cowering preview is up on the preview page

  16. Peter | July 10, 2014 at 7:15 pm #

I bought your asset a while back and would like to start using it. One of the things I would need is two handed weapons animations. I can see from these comments that you are working on this or have made it? What is the status on two handed weapon animations (like greatsword, big axes and halbards and such?). Is it something you are working on, and if not – will it be possible to add it?

    Best regards

    • Proportion | July 11, 2014 at 9:35 am #

Hi Peter, There is a few two handed sword animations in the medievil.fbx file, but if they aren’t what you require i will need a basic description per animation (eg. greatsword swing) followed by a video reference. The contact form has a good example of what is required.

  17. Pete | August 12, 2014 at 6:09 am #

    Hi Prop,

I need an animation of a person getting out of a bed and then standing idle (and ideally, a separate animation of a person standing idle and then getting into bed). I can’t find a reference video though! Do you need one for that?

    Many thanks

  18. Aigbe | October 4, 2014 at 9:13 pm #

I’m considering buying your pack. I just wanted to know if these animation could be retargeted onto a humanoid character with smaller proportions. A dwarf like character for example. Thank you!

    • Proportion | October 4, 2014 at 9:46 pm #

Hi Aigbe, They can be retargeted onto any humanoid character. Because of a dwarfs size you will have to adjust the Muscles of the rig to work appropriately, mainly feet spacing.

  19. JSChasle | February 11, 2015 at 6:43 am #

Bought your asset today. I can’t seem to find gethring (picking up garden stuff) in all the animation. I saw apple picking. Something for gardeing could look like this
Still trying to find a video for gathering the likes of berry on small bush.

    Thanks and great job btw…

    • Proportion | February 11, 2015 at 7:32 am #

      Hi JSChalse,

I just added that to the queue for you.

      • Proportion | February 17, 2015 at 9:47 am #

        Hi JSChalse,

Your animations is available for preview. let me know if your happy with it and i will add it to the pack

  20. Doug M. | April 7, 2015 at 4:18 am #

We are on the cuffs of purchasing your asset but we are looking for one particular motion and then later some additional ones if your statement is correct “just let me know and I can add it”. The animation we are looking for is of a character pushing a shopping cart from there I see we can blend all other forward and reverse animations you offer, which by the way look great. Looking forward to hearing from you as we are looking to make a choice very soon.

    • Proportion | April 14, 2015 at 2:54 am #

Yes i can add it, but you really dont need it. You can just IK the hands to the cart and you have a cart animation. You will need to do this even if i make a walk cycle with the hands on the cart. As i’ve said in emails as well, Just add me on skype by pressing the skype button on the right and i will be more than happy to show you how to do it.
